Future Plans
So I will be the first to admit that whilst this project was intended to be a tiny little game made as a silly April Fools bit, it ended up getting to be a little more than that. I had actually intended for this to be a very short game - I was thinking 1k words, maybe up to 2k but no more than that.
Well it's most definitely more than that, and that's after cutting some choices out of the game! The original outline allowed players to choose which path to take on each split, with the intention of every wrong path having dialogue and a different dead-end. Originally there would also be an extra branching path if you chose to try and take Willow home instead of immediately agreeing to go into the forest. So yeah, longer than intended but it still could've been even longer.
While I quite like where the writing ended up I keep thinking about what the art could've been. The sketchy style was intentional, of course. I wanted to save time and balance out the effort I put into the writing since this was for a low-effort jam. So... at some point I will be making a polished version of Cat Princess. The writing will stay exactly as it is, but I'll make some cleaned up portraits, expression variations, cleaned up backgrounds and some CGs throughout the game and for each of the endings! I can't really give an estimate for how long this will take, unfortunately. I know it will be a while to get the quality I want for all of the art and I'm also working on a few other projects at present, but I do want to have this updated by the end of the year to give a (hopefully) very generous time-frame.
